Springboard Curriculum
For the 2013 - 2014 school year Southfield Public Schools implemented the Springboard curriculum for mathematics in grades 6 – 8. The curriculum is also being piloted the curriculum Algebra I and Geometry is some high school classrooms. Springboard is the career readiness program offered by the College Board. The goal of the program is to help students develop a conceptual understanding of mathematics, by presenting topics within a familiar context. In addition, new mathematical concepts are taught in connection with other math skills. Springboard encourages students to explore, investigate, and question in order to develop and enhance their understanding of mathematics. Through this process students learn to take risks and develop an in-depth understanding of mathematical concepts.
